    • Hi Melwyk, thanks for stopping by. One of my goals this year is to write books. So I need to read books about writing. I am going to have a look at your reading list to see what other treasures are out there.

  3. Thanks for all the great links. I’m trying to read a book a week this year, so I will definitely check out that challenge.

  5. Nice challenges. This year I want to focus on reading books on creative thinking, goal setting, and continue with the self development books I started reading last year. I am passionate about reading. I just purchased 7 habits of highly effective people. I will try to commit to one of these challenges. I have old books I need to read as well, so I need to give my reading some thought.

    • Hi Gerald, thanks for stopping by. It is always great to meet other readers. Your reading focus is very interesting. If you have old books to read the TBR challenges are ideal. Are you on Goodreads? There are also nice reading challenges. Enjoy reading.

  6. Retha, I wondered if you might like to review a book I ghostwrote last year. It is called Joshua’s Missing Peace. I think you might like it and I could arrange for a free review copy for you if you like!

  8. I love the idea of setting up a reading challenge for leisure! Can’t think of the last time I’ve been able to pick up a book for fun. I read a lot online, so much that I don’t want to read anymore once I’m off line! I’m not sure how to fit it into my days (reading for leisure). Any suggestions?

    • Hi Natasha, thanks for stopping by. I know what you mean. I ‘tricked’ myself into adding leisure reading into my to-do’s. The Reading Challenges is my solution to the problem. This commits me to a certain amount of books I want to read this year. Then I set aside the last hour in the day that I would normally be online, for reading books for leisure. I also subscribed to Goodreads and added all the books I want to read on my to-read list – more that I can handle, but a wide variety to chose from. I pick the one I feel like reading and start with that. I also added the Book Review page to this blog, to I write a review on books I am reading for leisure. Let me know which books you want to read?

  9. Wow, this is quite an ambitious list. I’m trying to read more this year as well. I’d love to get through a book a week, but until I learn how to read faster I’ll have to settle for at least one a month!
Adrienne recently posted..Music Monday: January, Thanks! My Profile

    • Hi Adrienne, thanks for stopping by. Yes, it is, but many books you can use for different challenges. Most of these challenges have different levels. I am starting at the lowest level, and will attempt to work my way up. If you can read a book a month, that is already 12 books – if you chose well, you should be able to do quite a few challenges. Goodread also has a challenge where you can add the number of books you want to read for the year. Happy reading

  10. Hi, Retha! Welcome to the 2013 Non-Fiction/Non-Memoir Reading Challenge. I’m looking forward to hearing about what you read!

  11. Great goals! Reading really enriches life and is something pleasurable to do while disconnecting from ever-present technology. I’m aiming to read a book a month because I’m so busy. This seems like a lot of fun though!
